Where to Shop for Maternity Outfits & a Giveaway

I’ve had a lot of fun with Maternity fashion during my pregnancy.  For some reason, some advice that I received from people was to not spend on maternity clothes considering you will be wearing them only for a small amount of time. But honestly, you don’t have to break the bank to shop for cute outfits. Moreover, I figured that this is such a special time in a woman’s life, that you should do everything that makes you feel beautiful and happy. The good news is – you can actually shop at your favorite stores for non-maternity clothing for most of your pregnancy. I was able to wear non-maternity tops and dresses till almost the beginning of the third trimester. After that, I did have to shop for some maternity specific clothes – but another benefit of these? A lot of them are nursing friendly – so you will get more wear out of them.

For me, finding clothes that I could wear to work was one important factor ( my office has a rather corporate environment, business-casual is the typical dress code ).  Also, since we do a lot of travel projects and blog shoots – other kind of outfits that I wanted in my maternity wardrobe were the not-too-formal kinds but more fun and travel friendly.  This was actually one of the most asked questions that I got from some of you soon to be mommas, so  this post has been long overdue. So without any further ado – I am listing out the stores/websites that I found the cutest as well as the most functional pieces.

Non-Maternity Stores good for Maternity Outfits

Asos: Asos is hands down one of my favorite sites to shop at. Their maternity dress selection is equally good and rather economical. I also got quite a few pieces that were non-maternity and just sized up 1-2 sizes. Asos also carries a good collection for special occasion maternity dresses – so if you are looking for dresses for maternity shoots, baby shower or even for a wedding – this could be  your go-to site. Their free shipping both ways helps especially when you are figuring out sizes during maternity.

Free People: Free People dresses are very bohemian – loose-fitting, flowy! Thus making them perfect for maternity wear. Infact the size that you typically wear would probably the one that you could even get by with wearing a few months into your pregnancy. Love this dress and this tunic.

Show Me Your Mumu : I am a huge fan of Show Me Your Mumu dresses. Their wedding guest dresses are so perfect for pregnancy announcements and maternity shoots. ( I wore them in this post and this one ) The dresses are also perfect for any babymoon trips you might be planning. The price is slightly on the higher side – but for a special maternity shoot it might be a great treat for yourself =))

Target : I shopped for quite a few basics at Target. The price point is great and I was quite happy with the quality.

Maternity Brands/Websites

Ingrid and Isabel : I found some really cute tops and dresses from this brand including pieces that were perfect for office wear as well. One of my absolute favorite maternity dresses was from this brand. Because I loved this dress so much ( and SO many of you loved it as well) – I am giving away one as a gift to one of you soon-to-be mummas. Enter the giveaway below.

Kimi + Kai : A maternity little black dress is a must for date nights and this one is just perfect.

Boob Design : They carry some really functional pieces that I loved wearing such as the PJ tops and soft sweaters. The good thing that is most pieces on the site are transitional for the 4th trimester ( nursing)  as well.

Maternity Bras, Workout Tights, Leggings

I literally lived in these leggings throughout my pregnancy – while chilling at home, running errands, traveling, prenatal yoga classes. Target was my go-to a few basics. This strapless bra was a good find. Old Navy and Gap have a good maternity activewear section.

Maternity Jeans

Now these I really struggled with. I think I ordered atleast a dozen from different sites to figure out what size ( waist-wise as well as lengthwise ) would be good for my petite frame and growing belly! One thing I realized with jeans ( and tops and dresses as well ) that if you are going for a maternity specific piece – the size is usually your pre-pregnancy size in the maternity version. Anyway, I finally ended up buying just two jeans that I wore throughout. One from Macy’s and one this J Brand one that I absolutely loved.

Maternity Graphic Tees

There are so many cute tees available. I have to warn you though that people on the streets/stores will stop you and invariably go awww! Obsessed with this one!

READING TIME WITH ZOE - OUR FAVORITE BOOKS ( AT 18 MONTHS )

When I was pregnant with Zoe, I would call my mom with questions about being pregnant, about her experience and stories about raising my brother and I,  and all the million questions that a pregnant/new mom would typically have. I specifically remember asking her how did I learn to love books so much? How did they imbibe the passion for reading in me. To which mom had said – you can’t teach your kid to be passionate about something but you give them the tools, encouragement and set an example.
